Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly

The first ever Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly came into existence on 20th January, 1992 following the re-introduction of democratic rule in Nigeria. On that date, 48 Honourable Members who represented 48 State constituencies at the time were sworn in. the party representation in the House was as follows:

1. National Republican Convention (NRC) - 33
2. Social Democratic Party (SDP) -------------- 13
